Floral Tag

Today I decided to just play for once I had no idea where I was going so I played safe & made a tag although the first one did end up in the bin!

I cut a tag shape from kraft card and embossed it using a floral 'Darice' folder I then coloured it using panpastels (violet, phthalo green, copper & bronze). I added a bit of purple ric rac ribbon to the base and some green ribbon through the top.

I then set to work on the flowers, leaves & flourishes using a combination of die cuts and punches in complimentary colours. I tried to add a variety of different textures and I'm really not used to this 'look' but I have to admit although out of my comfort zone I did enjoy myself!

I'd like to enter this tag in the following challenge

Ppppppppp.....Paper Piecing Popout Project

I saw a recent show on Create & Craft with some card kits for 'popout' cads, they looked relatively easy to work out so I thought I'd give it a go. My brain doesn't always like to play ball so I didn't enter into it with great expectation BUT was really pleased with the end result and can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I may actually make a few of these for that (unmentionable) time of year.......

So, what do you think?

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Somewhere Over The Rainbow..........

....Skies are blue, some people just need a little more sunshine in their lives, some hope of better things to come and I used the brand new 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' challenge this week to inspire me for this make.

Firstly, I printed off the rainbow, cloud and sun images from the Picnix 1 cd rom. I then embossed the Thinking of You stamp with black embossing powder onto the rainbow and stuck this to my semi circle shaped, black card blank I then added the cloud image to the left and sunshine to the right hand side raising them on foam pads for dimension. I stamped out the Flying Bird with Momento and coloured it with Graph'it Markers (blender, 7105, 7110) attaching it to the tip of my card again with foam pads.

This week I'm entering into the following challenges:

Becky Boo!

Its most unlike me to blog twice in one day but now she's opened it I can share a friends 'get well' card with you. Becky had her galbladder removed yesterday and is currently resting up at home.

The image is a digi stamp from Cherryblossom Lane coloured with Graph'it Markers cut out with a circle die & matted onto a scalloped circle in a contrasting colour. Onto an 8x8 scalloped card blank I matted up one of the backing papers from the same cd again onto contrasting card stock. Wrapping a pretty pink ribbon around the middle. I added the topper on foam tape to give dimension and a few pretty flowers, leaves & a flourish to bring the whole thing together.

Hope youre feeling better soon Becky Boo!

Rose Budd

I was so excited when Nikky Hall sent the files over for the new Rose Budd CDrom. I mean what girl doesn't like 'Pride and Prejudice' and other films of that ilk?

Here's my sample from this morning's show on create & craft. I created a scene in a box, something that really pushed me out of my comfort zone but boy was I pleased with the end result!

I printed a couple of the gorgeous background sheets and laid down a plain sheet of card as lawn. The cute little 3d cottage was adapted slightly by cutting the windows out and adding a bit of acetate and of course some floral embellishments & flowersoft. I also cut out the wall and gate, attached it to the side of the box and the other to the side of the cottage.

The characters were coloured with my Graph'it markers and I made little stands for them so they became freestanding. I finished the front off with a couple of the floral 'roll up' roses & leaves from the cd.

Men In Mind

It'd mid challenge time over at Polkadoodles this week & the subject is... Men in Mind. Now those of you who 'know' me know I've been a little distracted of late by a certain man and those of you who don't a) where have you been? b) here's photographic evidence!

Now since being back on the crafty planet I've been rather busy. For this challenge I used the fabulous Not For Girls double cd rom. The scooter is so versatile from youths to the older 'boys' out there. The backing paper, topper, border and sentiment are all from the cd. I just added a bit of embossed card & ink. Simple but hope you'll agree effective?
