Happy 7th Birthday Polkadoodles Inspiration

Welcome to week 2 of the Polkadoodle Challenge and here I am with my inspiration post. As you may know the Design Team have been busy mashing/scratching/combining images for you with special codes over the last fortnight as part of the birthday celebrations. So I do hope you managed to grab yourself a bargain!

For my birthday card I used the uber useful Winston collection & as I've not had a lot of time I used all pre coloured images. I pulled my chosen backing paper up in my graphics programme and dragged on the individual balloons, placing them in an uneven row along the top. I then dragged the cake on and got it where I wanted for the size card I had planned (this card is 7 x 7). I then printed the sheet off.

I then went back to my graphics programme and was very careful when deleting the backing paper as I wanted extra copies of the balloons this time round so I copied & pasted what I required. I opted for 3 layers on every other balloon and 2 layers for the ones in between I then went back and added the letters for B I R T H D A Y on the different balloons & printed those off. Before cutting them out I sprayed them with glitter spray then layered them up onto the backing sheet using foam tape to add a bit of dimension. I drew little bows on the end of the strings.

Then it was time for cake! Man I love de cake! I copied that three more times and printed it off . I then cut off different parts to create my own decoupage. The flame of the candle (on the backing paper) was glittered. I then layered the cake on top adding some sparkle on to the top layer of icing and I then glazed the little balls on top. I drew a little free hand border around the edge and matted it onto some turquoise glittery card stock, then adhered that to my card blank.

The party time banner is also from the sentiments section of the Winston collection. I was then left with a little gap on the right hand side of my card and I wasn't sure how to fill it. I eventually decided to create a little birthday rosette with a circular die cut and scalloped die cut. I continued the little hand drawn lines around it to pull the whole design together & finished by adding the number 7 to the centre.

Here's to the next 7 years! Congratulations Polkadoodles x

Love & Friendship Tag

I have made a tag for this weeks Inky Pinkies DT inspiration. the tag itself is on the Little Kingdom CD Rom as is the sentiment. I combined the two in my graphics programme. Then I cut it out stuck it onto some black card stock (cut around again leaving a smaller border) then embossed it and inked the edges and punched a hole in it.

Meanwhile I'd scaled to size & printed out, 6 of the smaller flowers (in digi format), 3 of the larger and 4 leaves which I then coloured in with my favourite Lyra pencils (small flowers, 093, 094, 027, 029, large flower, 015, 013, 09, 08, 07, leaves, 068, 071, 070). I then shaped them and layered them up. Whilst they were drying I stuck a flourish onto the tag to fill in what I knew would be an open space. Once my flowers were dry I played about until I got the layout I preferred and then stuck them on using silicone glue to give them a bit more depth. Then the finishing touches were added, a bit of bling for flower centres and a bit of ribbon.

Another Mash up

Yep we are still celebrating Polkadoodles 7th Birthday!.
As this anniversary is normally called the "7 year itch", the Polka Doodles team have embraced the prickly feeling by scratching that itch and mixing/scratching up some new images ... get the pun? Corny we know but the team have had great fun. So to embrace the “itchy scratch” the Polka Doodles team have thrown caution to the wind and “scratched up” a different kind of birthday celebration.
The birthday celebrations will be running for 2 weeks and each day someone from the Polka Doodles team will be sharing their “mixed/scratched up” image. It’s been all hush hush and secret squirrel too as no one knows who has been busy creating what and when they will be revealing their image... so the Polka Doodles team get to join in the fun too. To add an extra layer of itchy fun, everyone has also been colouring up the new “scratched/mixed up” images, (still not knowing who designed them) and they will be sharing via their blogs and on Facebook.
We really have scratched things up ... new merged images, no one knows who created what and no one knows when they’ll be sharing them ...!
Please do take the opportunity to visit the Polka Doodles team and see their new digi images because you will find a discount code (or two) along your way that you can use in the Polka Doodles shop.

and here's my second DT creation one of my fellow teamies created this fabulous digi combination. I can't wait to find out who it was....... The hairdresser is from Work & Play 2 also available individually here and the mirror from the Rose Budd Collection. I coloured her up using my Spectrum Noir pencils ( skin, 001, 003, 004, 005, 009, 089, Hair, 091, 095, 084, 085, 001, comb, hairdryer, outfit, 033, 034, 035, 001, shoes, 120, 119, 117, 112)

Happy 7th Birthday Polkadoodles

Whoop Whoop it's birthday time at Polkadoodles and the design team have a little something special for you to celebrate....

For my creation I have merged the beautiful Serenity Princess with some mushrooms/toadstools found in the fabulously useful Bonbon Belles collection. Relatively straight forward just opened both in my graphics programme and placed them where I thought best. I printed onto some water coloured card and actually gave watercolouring a go. So please be kind as it's my first attempt. I managed to create a the little scene. The sentiment and backing paper are also from the Serenity Fairy Wishes Collection.

So here's the little gift from Polkadoodles to you, if you quote BIRTHDAY20 at checkout you will receive 20% discount this is for individual downloads only (NOT complete collections) expires 17th May midnight GMT.

A Colourful 50th Birthday

So for my Inky Pinkie post today I decided to turn one of the colouring pages from Colour Therapy Florabunda into a 50th birthday rocker card for a friend. I literally scaled it to size in my graphics programme added the 50 in PNG format. I also printed the 50 out separately so I could layer it up. I then coloured it up using my Graph'it Markers (yellow, 1110, 1130, 1170, terracotta, 1210, 1230, 1250, blue, 9100, 9101, 9102)

Thanks so much for stopping by I do appreciate all your lovely comments.

Happy Beeday

For my Polkadoodles creation this week I decided to use the subject matter 'Things With Wings' from this fortnights challenge and make my hubby a birthday card! I'm free to share it now as his day was Tuesday. He does like to have a good old look over any cards I make for him to see if he can guess what I've used or how I've achieved something so I do try and add different layers & textures and to make it quite tactile. I'm not sure the main photo does it justice so have also done a close up one.
