Festive Fun

Okay, okay it's a tad too early for Christmas, I hear you and I fully understand BUT you also have to understand that if you're a card maker and you like to make all your cards it takes quite a while. Which is why most of us take half the year to do it!

Now I've explained why I thought I'd share my first Christmas card of 2016 with you. It's made using Twiggy & Toots Festive Fun there are some fab digi's in the collection and I coloured this little fella up with my Graphit markers and some glitter gel pens.

The sentiment and backing papers are also from the collection. I've just added card, ribbon, gemstones, glitter and glossy accents to complete my card.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I do love to read all your comments.

Best Fishes

Morning all! Its brand new challenge time over at Polkadoodles and this fortnight it's 'Anything But Square' so that got me thinking...... how about a shaped card? So I had a little look through some of the recent collections and decided on a shell from Winnie Starfish & Sandcastles. I dragged 2 of the shells into my graphics programme and flipped one alongside the other (scalloped edge to scalloped edge) slightly overlapping to create a fold line. It was then printed off, cut out, and the edges were inked, I then I sprayed it with glitter. Next I printed off 3 of the cute little fishes and 3 Seahorses along with one of the sentiments and some foliage.

I created my own decoupage by cutting pieces away on the fish and seahorse then sprayed those with glitter and added some glossy accents on the eyes and layered them up. I used one of my label dies around my sentiment then added some foliage and pearls to finish off.

Now it's your turn we can't wait to see what you come up with BUT all is not lost if you're struggling because as from today if you really can't think of anything you can still add your creation as we are adding 'Anything Goes' to our challenges. Even more reason to join in the fun!

Thanks so much for stopping by I do love to read all of your comments.

A Simple Summertime Card

Morning all time for some mid challenge inspiration over at Polkadoodles and this time we're thinking 'Summer' so pop on over to the challenge blog and join in!

I've been a little short on time this week so opted for the CAS look it's always handy if you can master it!. I used Cherryblossom Lane.and made my card blank from one of the A5 inserts included in the collection. Whilst in my graphics programme I dragged one of the sentiments into the circular space. Then printed off a few of the pre coloured flowers & leaves shaped them & layered them up and placed them on the front adding a bit of shredded rafia, a ribbon and some dewdrops.

Hi all I'm back again with another make from the fabulous Meribelle Collection by Polkadoodles. Meribelle

I hope you've had a chance to take a look at the fabulous new collection of Meribelle by the uber talented Nikky Hall. I'm here today to share another make with you. This time I made a dome fronted 14.5 x 14.5cm card. I coloured up cute little Meribelle using my Zig Art & Graphic pens and my water pen (skin, pale pink, blush, tail, light blue, haze blue, bra, pale rose, pale pink, hair, apricot, beige, mustard, sand, bubbles, light blue, green shadow) I then used a spectrum sparkle pen on the tail & bubbles. I then edged the design with Antique Linen & Tumbled Glass distress inks. To add some texture I glued on some sequins & dewdrops

Now onto the acetate front. I used some of the creatures from Winnie Starfish & Sandcastles collection laid them out over a 14.5 x 14.5 cm area in my graphics programme then printed them out on printable acetate. I then trimmed it down to 14.5 x 18.5 cm and scored 1cm from each end. Next I bent the acetate around each side of the card and used red tape to stick it down firmly. This created a slight domed front and allows the card to stand freely.

Meribelle Pretty

Whoop Whoop don't you just love a new release! So for my Inky Pinky DT make this week I'm pleased to share young Meribelle Pretty with you, isn't she just gorgeous? You can find the rest of this fabulous collection here and there is a huge selection of 'stuff' to compliment the collection here.

So.... I made a 17.5 x 17.5 cm square card matted and layered a backing sheet from Winnie Starfish & Sandcastles collection added some lace and a sparkly sequined border. I coloured the image using my Lyra pencils (skin, 032, 031, 087, 083, 091, hair, 075, 076, 080, 082, 083, tail, 047, 048, 049, bra, 027, 028, 029, shell, 089, 090, 087, 002, starfish, 007). I then inked the edges with tumbled glass distress ink and added glossy accents to the bubbles. I adhered my topper onto the card at a 'jaunty angle' using foam tape. To finish it off I just added a starfish and shell that I had in my craft stash.

Many thanks for stopping by. Please feel free to leave me a comment I do love to read them.

A Little Watercolour Daisy Wish

Morning folks this week I was determines to have a proper bash at watercolouring but using the craft stash I already own. Hands up if you belong to the club of I must have 'this' to pull of 'this'? To be honest you don't and to be honest whats the point in spending out more cash to find out it wasn't what you thought or you couldn't get to grips with it? So before I invested in a decent set of watercolours I had a wee play with my Kuretake Art & Graphic pens to see what I could achieve.

I now know I started off using them wrong (for me) but we live & learn eh? We aren't all naturals. If you're interested, here is what I did. I stamped out the largest flower from Daisy Days in clear embossing ink and the whitest embossing powder I had ( I defo think I'd prefer a whiter one!) then I chose the colours. Now this is where I feel I went wrong. After wetting my watercolour paper I scribbled ink onto an acrylic block and applied to my design from there.

I think my problem is I like things to be controlled and exactly as I want them to be I've now learnt that it's doesn't have to be like that, lol! I battled my demons and persevered and gradually my design came together but I tell you there were a few heart palpitations during the process. So for me this was very therapeutic. I literally pushed through and came out the other side. Now some of you may think that sounds daft but for those that know me and I mean 'really know me' will realise how difficult it was and although this is not my preferred colouring medium I do think I'll give it another go.

It's not great, its far from perfect but overall I'm happy with it. Thanks for stopping by and feel free to leave me a comment, I love to read them!

Beautiful Butterfly

Hi, this week for my Inky Pinky DT project I chose this gorgeous butterfly, paper and sentiment  from Little Kingdom. Once I had chosen the backing paper  required I dragged on the sentiment and resized the digi within my graphics programme when I was happy with my layout I printed it off, I matted it onto some black card stock and then onto my 5" x 5" card blank. I then deleted everything except the digi and printed that out again on some printable vellum.

My digi's were then coloured up using my spectrum noir pencils (02, 62,63,64,72) I coloured onto the back of the vellum so you could still see all the lines from the front & then added black glitter to the black patternation on the front. The vellum butterfly was then fussy cut and adhered to the front of my card. I used some little butterfly gems from my craft stash as a trail to finish it off.

Using Ribbon

Happy Friday everyone! It's mid challenge 'inspiration' time again over at the Polkadoodles Challenge blog and I've kept it clean and simple with an 8 x 8" card this week, if you look at the close up photo I hope you can see the dimension. To make the biggest impact with the image I opted for putting the sentiment on the inside of the card.
