Getting Organised for Christmas

I really need to start getting myself organised for Christmas and the mid challenge inspiration over at Polkadoodles has hopefully kick started me! I used a digi from Work & Play Hollybobs CD which I coloured with my Graph'its. The image is also available as a digi here The actual card base is in the frame section from the Picnix 2 CD. The cracker and sentiment are also from the Hollybobs CD. I've just added a bit of glitter, ink, twine & gems from my craftbox to bling it up a little. I love cross pollinating with Polkadoodle CD's as they all work together so well.

Thanks for dropping by it'd be great if you left me a comment x

Hooray... Hooray... Its a Holi Holi Day

Okay now I've got that really annoying song in your head it's time for a brand new theme over on the Polkadoodles Challenge Blog. Let's see your 'Fun in the Sun' creations. I've opted for a caravan holiday card. Well I do live at the seaside and we are inundated with holiday makers at the moment. I created a side stepper card (details below) using one of the backing papers (printed onto cardstock) from the fabulous Work & Play 3 collection. The ticket sentiment, border, caravan and sun worshipper are all pre coloured from the cd. I just added a yellow flower & brad to mimic the sun.

If you'd like to make a side stepper card from scratch just follow the instructions below.
  • You will need a piece of card stock 14.5cm wide x 24cm long. Now depending on if you want a left or right handed stepper to where you start scoring. My steps (in above photo) are to the right so you need to score from the left.

  • you need to score (from the left) at 2cm and again at 4cm the full width of the card.
  • then at 8cm, 12cm & 18cm you score BUT only down to 7cm. It may pay at this point to draw a pencil line in from 8 - 18cm and 7cm down as this will be a cut line.
  • From the left at 14cm you will need another score line going back up to that cut line.
  • You then need to use a craft knife and metal ruler to cut your cutline.
  • Fingers crossed if you then follow the diagram below you will end up with a side stepper card.

Many thanks for stopping by. I'd love it if you would leave a comment.
Have a great day!

Clash of the Colours

Wow I'll be honest this weeks Mid Challenge over at Polkadoodles scared the living daylights out of me as I'm normally a very tone on tone crafter but I decided to just go with the flow and see what happened.

I used the fabulous Sugarplum Daisy CD Rom this week you need to have it in your collection as it's so very useful. I made a whacky/clashy background with strips of backing paper, I stuck them down horizontally (carefully butting them up to each other) then cut them vertically then staggered the pattern onto my chosen card stock. The cute little bee digi's were a delight to colour in with my new blendable pencils, the sentiment is also from the same CD. Just a couple of die cut circles & some handmade flowers complete my design.

A twinkle.......

....of glitter added for this weeks challenge I've used the brilliant new 'Work & Play Hollibobs' CD there are so many cute little characters to choose from I opted for the gorgeous penguin, I printed him off several times and layered him up adding a bit of glitter as I went.  The papers, sentiment, bow and snowflakes are all on the cd too. Making my Christmas cards is going to be so much fun this year.

Floral Tag

Today I decided to just play for once I had no idea where I was going so I played safe & made a tag although the first one did end up in the bin!

I cut a tag shape from kraft card and embossed it using a floral 'Darice' folder I then coloured it using panpastels (violet, phthalo green, copper & bronze). I added a bit of purple ric rac ribbon to the base and some green ribbon through the top.

I then set to work on the flowers, leaves & flourishes using a combination of die cuts and punches in complimentary colours. I tried to add a variety of different textures and I'm really not used to this 'look' but I have to admit although out of my comfort zone I did enjoy myself!
