Happy 7th Birthday Polkadoodles Inspiration

Welcome to week 2 of the Polkadoodle Challenge and here I am with my inspiration post. As you may know the Design Team have been busy mashing/scratching/combining images for you with special codes over the last fortnight as part of the birthday celebrations. So I do hope you managed to grab yourself a bargain!

For my birthday card I used the uber useful Winston collection & as I've not had a lot of time I used all pre coloured images. I pulled my chosen backing paper up in my graphics programme and dragged on the individual balloons, placing them in an uneven row along the top. I then dragged the cake on and got it where I wanted for the size card I had planned (this card is 7 x 7). I then printed the sheet off.

I then went back to my graphics programme and was very careful when deleting the backing paper as I wanted extra copies of the balloons this time round so I copied & pasted what I required. I opted for 3 layers on every other balloon and 2 layers for the ones in between I then went back and added the letters for B I R T H D A Y on the different balloons & printed those off. Before cutting them out I sprayed them with glitter spray then layered them up onto the backing sheet using foam tape to add a bit of dimension. I drew little bows on the end of the strings.

Then it was time for cake! Man I love de cake! I copied that three more times and printed it off . I then cut off different parts to create my own decoupage. The flame of the candle (on the backing paper) was glittered. I then layered the cake on top adding some sparkle on to the top layer of icing and I then glazed the little balls on top. I drew a little free hand border around the edge and matted it onto some turquoise glittery card stock, then adhered that to my card blank.

The party time banner is also from the sentiments section of the Winston collection. I was then left with a little gap on the right hand side of my card and I wasn't sure how to fill it. I eventually decided to create a little birthday rosette with a circular die cut and scalloped die cut. I continued the little hand drawn lines around it to pull the whole design together & finished by adding the number 7 to the centre.

Here's to the next 7 years! Congratulations Polkadoodles x
