Can You Kick It?

Here is this weeks design team tutorial for Polkadoodles. Its designed for all you newbies to have a go. Seriously its not difficult.

I printed off my choice of papers, embellies & digi from Pretty Tuff CD Rom, coloured my image and ribbon to match with Graph It Markers (skin: 4125, 4145, 4150, hair:1210,1230,1270, kit: blender, 9100, 9101, boots: 9500, 9501, 9503)

I mounted my papers and text on contrasting card stock from my crafty stash.

I then added my matching ribbon to the left hand side of my mat and attached it to an 8x8 card blank.

Then by following the actual sketch layout  for this weeks  challenge I arranged my card.

I added some faux stitching (little black dashes) around the edges just to stop the eye wandering off the page and that's it! A lovely, bright, funky design for an up and coming footballer.

Gingham Style

Happy Birthday to the lovely Create and Craft presenter, Nigel May. I like to try and match the card to the recipient and all I could think for this one was Gingham (Yee Ha! - don't worry that's on the insert!!) and what better way to go than 'Gingham Style'. I borrowed a picture of Nigel off the internet and plonked him onto a digi stamp from Wrinklies CD Rom and coloured the rest in with my Graph it markers. Of course no groover is happy without a disco ball which I made from mirri & a few gems and sparkles to jazz it up a little and inked the edge to give it a nighttime feel. I matted the topper on some blue card. I then added this to my card blank which I'd decorated with some blue gingham (yee ha!...... sorry) and a decorative border. Just to finish I added my wording.

Happy Birthday Nigel May have a lovely day x x x

I did manage to give Nigel his card at the NEC Hobbycrafts yesterday the picture did me no justice at all so I cropped it obviously its not the greatest quality but you get the idea.

YEE HAA!

Cute Christmas Box

Here's my DT project this week for Polkadoodles Challenge Blog I cant believe how easy this box was to make. I printed it all off from A Home For Christmas all I used was one sheet of A4 card, a topper, a bit of ribbon and some glitter, cheap as chips and something a little different.

Many thanks for stopping by and taking a look, why not pop over to Polkadoodles Challenge Blog this week and join in with the fun?

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Afternoon all, I've been playing around with All Lit Up an Emma Canning digi over the last couple of days. I coloured it in with my Graph its and matted it onto a larger embossed, inked and glittered oval. for the background I stamped some snowflakes onto white card and embossed it with polkadots, inked the edges and matted onto some matching card stock. I then wrapped a iridescent ribbon around and matted it on to a card blank. Added my topper, greeting a bow & a snowflake.

I'd like to enter this card into digi choosday challenge.

Never Ending Tutorial

I had a few people on the social media sites asking me to do a tutorial for last weeks Polkadoodles DT Challenge piece so here goes. I'm hoping it's easy enough to follow.

1. You will need 4 pieces of identical card stock, each measuring 10 x 20 cm

2. Now you need to score 5cm from each end of each piece of card stock. So you will have a score line at 5cm and another at 15cm. Then lay 2 pieces of the scored card horizontally (see above photo)

3. Now you need to add your adhesive of choice, for quickness I used the strong, double sided red tape but you could use wet glue but obviously you will need to have patience.......

4. Okay just be a little careful here as if using tape you will have no room for correction, you need to place the last two pieces of card stock squarely onto the taped pieces but this time portrait, make sure when you place it down the corners all square up too each other.

5. You should then be left with a card that to me looks like an H. Basically thats it! I did tell you it was simple its just knowing how to put it together, now all you do is go ahead and decorate as you'd like. I just make sure when I add the backing papers I cut them 0.5 cm smaller than the section of card I'm placing it on just so there is a neat little border around the edge.

6. The finished card! You can raised the toppers up a little to give a 3D effect but obviously not too high as it will cause problems when turning the card.

You Tube has been a naughty boy today but hopefully my video will work. Give it a go, thanks for stopping by x

A Never Ending Christmas......

The card that just keeps on giving lol it's great for fiddly fingers. This is my DT project for this week over at Polkadoodles it was so much fun to make. All the papers and embellies are from the fabulous A Home For Christmas CD Rom. With just a tad of sparkle added.

If I get enough interest I may just have to do a tutorial for this card. Thank you for stopping by x

50 Shades Of Grey.....

.......Actually I think there's about 9 but a girl's gotta start somewhere. This cute digi is a fab downloadable from Polkadoodles and I coloured her (and the cat) with a combination of alcohol markers as my Graph'its are still a work in progress. I made the backing paper in my graphics programme using the spiderweb digi also from Polkadoodles I inked thru a chicken wire stencil on two corners and then around the edges with black soot distress ink. I then matted onto some grey card stock added a little silky crush ribbon and then added my matted image & topped it off with the cat.

I'd like to enter this card into Shades Of Grey on the Graph it challenge blog

Thanks so much for stopping by, I really do appreciate your comments x

Autumn

I think Autumn is my favourite season. You can still get the warm days and the colour of the landscape is just gorgeous all those orange, reds and golds anyway I digress this week challenge over at Polkadoodle Blog is Autumn and when I was going thru the cds I opted for this delightful scarecrow and sunflower digis from Sundae of Seasons I coloured them all with my alcohol markers. I combined my coloured digi's with the pre coloured fences from Bonbon Belles. I printed off the sentiment also from Bonbon Belles I then made a quick background using Pan Pastels on top of which I layered up my scene. I then mat and layered it all up onto an 8 x 8 inch card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Autumn Colours

I was having a play this morning finishing off a birthday card for a friend when I realised that the majority of pan pastels I've purchased are actually ideal for autumn so I decided to go with it...

I embossed a piece of plain white card with a leaf design and then attacked it with my pan pastels initially covering with a mix of yellow, red and green and then adding a smattering of metallics and then gave it a good old buff up. Instead of ribbon I thought the look would suit a bit of raffia I then inked around a doily and layered up some die cuts which I also coloured with pan pastels adding a little raffia bow to finish this autumn themed card.

I'd like to enter the above card in 'Anything Goes' over at Pan Pastel Blog

Candy Colours

Its challenge time over at Polkadoodles and here is my DT piece.

I picked one of the existing toppers from the fabulous Bonbon Belles Cd and edited it in my graphics programme. I added the cute sentiment and was able to make extra layers for the butterflies which I glittered up and added to the topper to give it a bit more dimension & sparkle. The backing paper is from the same cd so I matted that onto some contrasting cardstock and added a bit of sheer ribbon from my crafty stash and to be honest I don't think its come out too bad! I hope you will find some time to pop over and join in with us.

Birthday Boy!

Oh boy did I struggle with this weeks challenge over at Polkadoodles. I'm a card maker and a very particular one at that! I swear I also suffer a little with OCD. Take me out of my comfort zone and I go into panic mode. The word 'challenge' is there for a reason!

So this weeks challenge is a significant number birthday and we had to make anything BUT a card using Picnix Cd rom or Studio 12 products. My card making usually also starts with me having a subject matter in mind for the recipient. I was at a loss.

I ummed and arred for a few days and then decided on a little keepsake for my brother as he will be 50 later this month. The papers on the Picnix Cd rom are 'to die for' they look like real fabric. So I cut 2 pieces of identical board and cut the middle out of one to make a frame. I then covered both with the blue canvas spotty paper. I used acetate to 'glaze' my frame. In my graphics programme I used more paper to make bunting which I attached with string. I then added a piece of faux leather with the number 50 (also from the cd). Happy 50th Birthday Simon.

My project may seem relatively simple to some of you but I just want those of you who struggle to realise that when you set your mind to it you can do it!

Just Got To Share.....

On Saturday I popped over to Coleman's Craft Warehouse in Rushden as Nikky Hall was doing a demo for P.A.B they are the fab company behind Graph'its and pan pastels which before today I hadn't tried.

Oh my all I can say is O.M.G you have to try METALLIC PAN PASTELS, I've been playing (sorry crafting) all afternoon with them and Nikky was right. I couldn't stop lol. So I shall start by showing you the 2 bits of embossed card I used.

I rubbed the card stock over with a sticky embossing pad and then started to add the pan pastels I think I used every colour lol and as Nikky had advised buffed it with a soft cloth. I then added a little bit of silver at the end just to make it 'pop'. Just look at the difference, don't they look fab? I just adore them

I then decided to take it further and turn everything else metallic too lol and ended up with this creation. It's for a friend on twitter and Facebook so I've just got to hope she doesn't spot it but if she does...sorry Viv I couldnt wait to share x

Seriously guys you need to try these!

Fairy Time

Its challenge time again over at Polkadoodles. This week I opted to use the gorgeous Sugarplum Daisy CD Rom. I printed off a few digis to make up my picture and coloured them in with my Graph it markers. The backing paper and cute tickets also come from the same CD. I inked up a doily to add a lacy edge, a leafy die cut & a flower from my crafty stash completes this bold design.

Many thanks for popping by. Why not join in with this weeks challenge.

BOO!

Hi everyone, I thought I'd pop in and share what I've been up to over the last few days. As most of you know I'm on the Polkadoodles DT well the very talented Nikky Hall has a fab new digi set available for download on her website its approaching the spookiest night of the year..................So time for some fun!

I've made a card and covered a box ready for those pesky trick or treaters

My very clever son is also worth a mention here as he received his A level results last week and got a 'B' in Photography so I asked him to take a couple of pics for me to upload to my blog.

The box shows off one of the wonderful backing papers available in the download bundle and the lid, I coloured in a digi bat and used a die to cut out the inked sentiment.

The card was where I really had fun. I started by printing off one of the lush downloadable backing papers I added a couple of sticky cobwebs to the corners before printing, which I later embossed to add a bit of texture & sparkle. I inked the edges and matted and layered onto some contrasting card stock which I roughed up a little with my scissors and an emery board. Then added that to my inked A5 card blank. I love colouring and used a combination of Graph It Markers and Spectrum Noir's to colour my two digi stamps. I took the 'Spooky' sentiment into my Silhouette Cameo to cut out and off set it with a contrasting colour.

I'd like to enter this in the Graph'it Red Hair Challenge

Ok so this weeks challenge over at Polkadoodles is a little bit different. Here's my DT piece.

Christmas is Coming

I thought I'd best make a start on my Christmas cards 4 clean & simple A6 cards using the new a4 embossalicious snowflake folder, sprayed with spray & sparkle matted onto some mirror board. The snowflake dies are tattered lace by Stephanie Weightman. All finished off with a typed sentiment which I used with a double sided sheet, cut with labels 4 spellbinder die and dipped in micro beads for a bit of texture.

Thanks for stopping by!

Summer's Here

Okay that maybe a slight exaggeration but I'm warmer than I've been for a few weeks and with the delivery of the Bonbon Belles CD Rom its brightened my last few days up. Here are a couple of cards I've made using the afore mentioned disc.

You can't have a beach scene without beach huts can you? I printed out all the elements from the cd to create this DL easel card and added a couple of starfish I had in my crafty stash. I would like to enter this card into Celebrate Summer over at Jellypark

There is such variety of both coloured and bw digis as well as papers, cutting files & sentiments. Real value for money!

Happy Fathers Day

La Pashe Wrinklies never fail to make me laugh. I normally have a smile on my face from deciding what image to use right until my project is completed. This was no exception lol. when I saw this image I knew exactly 'who' I could use it for!

Happy Fathers Day Dad!

I hope you like your card!

I started off with an 8x8" white, card blank on to which I matted and layered some stripey blue paper onto some grey card and wrapped some blue ribbon around it. I did a print and cut of the 'Grandad Style' digi stamp on my silhouette cameo and also cut a mat slightly bigger in the grey card which I then embossed. I coloured the 'old boy' in with my alcohol markers and inked the edges and added a few gemstones as disco lights. To finish off I cut out the word dad on my silhouette cameo in the grey card and went around the edges with faux stitching added a few foam pads and stuck them too the card.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope all you dads out there are enjoying your day.

I'd like to enter this in card in the following challenge Jelly Park Challenge Masculine

Design Team News

Recently I sent this card as part of an application to be part of the Graph'it design team. The characters name is Billie and she is a digi on the Fredericka cd by Polkadoodles. Currently I only own a few Gi pens so its only her skin and tshirt that is coloured with those, the rest of the image is coloured with pro markers. The backing papers came from a Polkadoodles Paper Pick Pack (try saying that with a mouthful of marbles!) I added a couple of spellbinder borders and coloured my ribbon to match my design. I finished it off with 'Birthday Diva' lettering using Tattered Lace Retro Alphabet die and a few gemstones.

Well unfortunately my application for the Graph'it  DT wasn't successful however there was good news as Nikky Hall of Polkadoodles fame asked me to join her design team! How cool is that?

I need to blog more so thought I'd start by sharing this post with you all. Thanks for stopping by.
